Posterous is a simple blogging platform started in May 2008, funded by Y Combinator.It supports integrated and automatic posting to other social media tools such as Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook, a built-in Google Analytics package, and custom themes. Posterous also has its own URL shortening service and allows users to host their domain name on Posterous. With so many amazing features you should definitely consider creating an account on Posterous.

How to create post on Posterous?

Once you have signup on Posterous and created your account. first thing that you would want to do is create a post. When you login for the first time in Posterous, you will enter Manage area where you have options to “Write a Post”, “Find your friends” and “Explore great Content”. Click on “Write a Post”. Now you will be on a new post area where you can choose a ‘Title’ for you post and start writing content in the blank space under it. You can format text in your post using the Text editor. In the right hand section of the new post screen, you will see 2 tabs i.e ‘Media’ &’Post Options’.  Media tab provides option to upload a video, audio or a document and include it in you post.  After completing your post , you can hit “Publish” button on the bottom right screen to publish the post.

If you don’t wish to publish the post immediately you can choose to schedule the post as well which will allow you to save the post in draft and make it private. On the right hand side of ‘New Post’ screen , click on ‘Post Options’. Here you will be able to control your post and the publishing level of your post. There are 3 options under ‘Post Options’ tab

  • Schedule this post for future — Post will be make private and will be published on demand.
  • Mark this post as private – Post will be made private and can be viewed by anyone having direct URL to the post
  • Autopost everywhere  – Post will be posted to connected accounts like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.

Once you hit the “Publish” button, you post will be published on your Posterous blog. By default URL of your Posterous Blog would be http://username.posterous.com/ where username is your Posterous username.
