Do you know that people around the world can search for your Facebook Profile using search engines and can easily land up on your Facebook Profile. By Default they will only see what you have shared to Public on Facebook.¬† If you don’t want others to see your Facebook Timeline link in search engines, then¬† Facebook allows you to disable the public search.

To disable the Public search of your Facebook Profile, Go to Privacy Settings , then click on ‘Edit Settings’ next to “Apps and Websites” section. Here you would see the settings for different apps and websites that you use or access. Scroll down to the bottom where you will find ‘Public Search’ section. Now click on Edit settings.

You will be shown the below screen where you can disable the public search of your Facebook Profile just by un-checking the checkbox.

Here Facebook also adds that even after disabling public search of your Facebook timeline, you may see your Facebook Profile in search results but that is only because of the cache information stored by different search engines and you may have to contact Google, Yahoo , Bing etc to delete that information from their cache. Google has a process where you can request Google to remove the page from its search indexes hence it won’t be shown in Google results. Here is the video How To Tutorial.
