Google Plus APIs released [Update]

Google Plus has released its APIs for the developers to build app which can get public data for a profile. Since the launch of Google Plus developer community was waiting for Google to release API for Google Plus. Though there are  few apps which could get your public data like creating feed for public posts but today Google officially release the APIs for developers.

Chris Chabot from Google+ developer relation posted on Google’s blog

“That’s just the beginning though — we want every one of you who builds applications to be able to include rich sharing, identity, and conversations in your app. Today, we’re taking the next step on that journey by launching the first of the Google+ APIs.”

google plus apiGoogle+ allows developers to use different methods to get the public info for a profile. For e.g. To get a profile info , people.get method can be used to send a HTTP request.


Similarly activities.list method can be used to get most recent public posts.

Before an app start to make request for the public data, developer needs to register the app with Google Plus. Google also a provide option for the developers to keep track of their user by using Oauth2 scope to ask users who they are.
