How to change Private Space to Public on Posterous

Posted by Prashant on October 1, 2011 in How To

In Posterous Startup series, I have already told you about creating & scheduling post, changing theme and creating public and private spaces on your Posterous Blog. Today I am going to share with you that how can we change the privacy settings of a private space to public. Private and Public spaces on Posterous are exactly what their names suggest. Public space can be accessed by anyone on the web whereas Private space is private to you and you decide who is allowed to view the content of this private space. But over the period of time if you want to make your Private space to be public and share your stories with everyone, you can do that by following below steps.

I created TechGyan on posterous and made it private by default so it can be only be viewed by me & someone who has access to it. Now if I decide to change the privacy setting of this space from Private to Public then I have to click on the Spaces section on the top of Posterous. It will take me to a page where I can see all my Posterous Spaces (both Public and Private) and would show ‘Public’ written below my Public Space and a lock sign below my Private Space.

Now to change the privacy settings of this space, click on Options button next to the space name and then click on ‘Settings’.

On Settings page, you can do lots of things related to your space like change the name, control look and feel, change privacy settings, setup analytics and many others. Now to change the Privacy settings from Private to Public go to ‘Privacy’ Section and click on ‘Edit’.

Uncheck ‘Make my space Private‘ on next and finally click ‘Save Settings‘ to change your private space on Posterous to public.

You can also follow my posterous space TechGyan which I recently made public when I wrote this article.
