How to Track Prices on Amazon

Normally prices go down and that is what we as consumers tend to believe. However, that is always not always the case. While it is true that overall the prices do go down over a longer period of time, however, the prices do show a lot of variation in shorter period of time.

I love to buy products from Amazon because I do not need to pay sales tax and also, it is usually at Amazon that I end up getting the lowest price of a product, apart from the excellent service they’re already known for. Amazon is a always striving to provide lower costs, however, as with any other seller, prices also go up and down at Amazon.

We at Survival Guide always strive to provide you all the tools and tricks to get the best deal. Some of our tricks, which are hugely popular are:

Amazon is always tweaking and adjusting the price of goods and this makes it difficult to know if you’re getting a bargain.

Despite its odd name, CamelCamelCamel.com is an excellent website if you want to keep track of Amazon’s prices. The ability to generate alerts based on price and availability changes is essentially camelcamelcamel’s main feature.

You can provide Amazon URL or name of the product in the search bar to track the price of a particular product. For example, I want to track the price of a TV, which I want to buy – Panasonic VIERA TC-L42E50 42-Inch 1080p. Search for the products and you will see a self explanatory chart depicting the price trend of the product you searched for.

If you want to track a product, you can also set a price threshold at and below which an alert is generated, assuming the product is also in stock. CamelCamelCamel.com alerts can be thought of as log entries, which are delivered via email, Twitter, or RSS feed, containing current price information and useful links (Amazon product page, camel page, etc).
