Improving Productivity with Bluetooth Headset

Posted by Mayank on August 13, 2013 in Gadgets

Not many of you know, but improving productivity has been one of my main objectives. I’m always looking for ways to do a particular activity in a better way. One of the productivity ideas, which I’m going to mention today did not germinate from the need to improve productivity.

Phone calls have become an inseparable part of our life. Imagine yourself away from your phone and I bet you’ll be scrambling to get a hold of it somehow. If not making or receiving calls, we’re spending time on Whatsapp or Facebook or any of those millions of apps out there. When we’re using apps, there is hardly anything else we can do – our eyes, ears and hands are all dedicated to the app. However, one of the basic activity which phones were created for – making and receiving calls is one such activity, which offers a ton of potential to improve productivity.

When doing phone calls – it is primarily your ears and mouth, which are dedicated towards this activity apart from a part of our brain. This offers a great potential to multi-task and finish other activities. I use bluetooth headset to do activities in parallel during phone calls. I find it really frustrating when I see people holding phones in their hands during a conversation. It is ok to do it once in a while but I would really like to multi-task and I’m sure you’d have seen many out there who prefer to do so.

To multitask, you need to free up your hands and you’ll need a hands free for the same. I use Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2. Once you have your hands free, there are hundreds of activities you can do during the same time like jogging, walking, cooking, cleaning the home etc.

Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 Review

I use Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 and found it to be perfectly suitable with my lifestyle. With Bose Bluetooth Headset, my hands and eyes are free and whenever I’m in a call, I use the opportunity to clean up my house, which is a nice surprise to my wife! Many a times, when I’m to participate in a scheduled call – I take a walk outside and take my child to play in the park.

Because I’ve been using it for so long, I’m really able to take multi-tasking to the next level. I can do many more activities like cooking, painting, blog posting, reading while attending the phone at the same time. Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 acts as a nice companion because of it’s awesome noise cancelling feature, which makes the other person feel as if I’ve locked myself in a room to talk to them – they feel privileged 🙂

I settled on Bose Bluetooth Headset after trying and discarding quite a few others. Bose was not a natural choice because of its premium cost and there are three other bluetooth headsets, which I tried before settling with Bose Headset Series 2:

  • Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth Headset – I used Plantronics Voyager Legend for about 2 months. While it is great in terms of sound quality and features in the phone, I did not like the large size of the headset and somehow for me, it was always a frantic scramble to plug it to my ear when I received a call. There are a lot of happy customers because of tons of features in this headset and 7 hours of talk time with 11 days of standby time. Check the details.
  • Jawbone ERA Bluetooth Headset – The Jawbone Era is more than a headset: it’s a potential audio computing platform. It offers 5.5 hours of talktime and 240 hours of standby time. Sometimes sound quality was not a 100%, especially for the other person I was talking to. Overall it is also a great headset and at the time of writing this post, it is available for an amazing discount of almost 50% at Amazon ($64 instead of usual price of $129).
  • Motorola ELITE SLIVER Bluetooth Headset – While it is probably the best Bluetooth headset in terms of talktime: 15 hours of talktime and 35 days of standby time, I found it not to be so perfect in terms of audio quality, especially in windy and noisy conditions. Check the details.

Bose Bluetooth Series 2 offers the minimum talktime (4-5 hours) and standby time (100 hours) amongst the ones I tried. However, it excels and is top notch when it comes to sound quality, especially in noisy and windy conditions. It is the smallest in size and fits in your ear perfectly.

You can buy one which best suits your budget and your needs. All of these mentioned here are top-notch Bluetooth headsets with my personal choice being Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2.
