Safari Crashing after Jailbreak iOS 5.1 – How to Resolve

A few of our readers came back to us informing us about the issue they’ve been having after Jailbreaking their iPhone or iPad iOS 5.1 or iOS 5.0. Issue is that Safari browser has become unstable after Jailbreak iOS 5.1 and Safari crashes immediately after you tap the Safari app logo. This issue has surfaced after jailbreaking iOS 5.1

Did you jailbreak your iOS 5.1 device using Snowbreeze? It is recommended that you use the latest version of Redsn0w (available here). It seems that one of the earlier versions of Redsn0w had a stability issue, which has hence been resolved. Install the latest version of Redsn0w and restart your iPhone. Issue should get resolved by this.

In case of a tethered jailbreak, many a times, if your iPhone restarts itself — such issues are encountered. In case of a tethered jailbreak, you need to do it properly and it is different than the normal iPhone restart. Here are the details:

Launch Redsn0w and select Extras.

 

Select Just boot to do a tethered boot.

Also, make sure to activate your iPhone using iTunes to ensure working of the features, which include the Safari, FaceTime, iMessage, and other features on the jailbroken iPhone firmware. That’s it!
