Touchscreen ATMs… touchscreen gadgets – touchscreen phones.. touchscreen tablets… touchscreen PCs. When every device is moving to touchscreen capability, why not have a wireless router, which is a touchscreen too?

Securifi released Almond, which, is the first wireless router in the market that comes with a touch screen. It will help users quickly, and easily, manage their wireless network. Lets face it – configuring wireless routers is just a pain in the neck almost all the time — Securify Almond is a new touch-screen router aims to make setting up Internet simpler and faster than the traditional method.

Traditionally, a router comes with either desktop software or a Web interface (or both), which are generally complicated for and always require a computer to activate and troubleshoot issues. Except for a few routers from Linksys etc, setup and troubleshoot is never fun. Securify Almond sports a new touch-based interface and is designed to ease the challenge of setting up a new router.

Securify Almond has a 2.8″ 320×240-pixel full-color touch screen that takes care of its own setup and maintenance. It is a single-band Wireless-N device that offers top Wi-Fi speeds of 300Mbps using 802.11 b/g/n and has one WAN port and two LAN ports (most routers have four). Unfortunately the router does not support dual-band, Gigabit, or USB devices.

Securify Almond acts as a wireless range extender as well – extending the reach of wireless network to more than 100′.

Bottomline

Securify Almond is a pretty good buy for $70 considering its features, looks and capabilities. It is best suited for those who like touchscreen devices and would rather not use computers (with tablets outselling PCs – this is becoming a reality). Still not convinced? Consider Securify Almond+.
