The latest version of the iBooks app for iPhone and iPad includes the read-aloud feature that reads the book to you. It’s only available for “enhanced” books and some books will even highlight the words as they are read to you. So, in order to use the iBooks read-aloud feature, you need to download the latest version of the iBooks app, which is version # 1.3

Salient Features of iBooks 1.3

  • You can use the read-aloud feature to help your children learn to read in select children’s books from the iBookstore. The read-aloud feature uses a real narrator to read the book to you, and in some books, it will even highlight the words as you read along.
  • Enhanced books can now automatically play audio or video included with the book.
  • Makes iBooks more responsive when opening very long books.
  • Addresses an issue where some books may display the same page twice.

iBooks read-aloud feature will be a great feature for children learning how to read. Let us know your favorite iBooks with the read-aloud feature enabled.
