Disabling App Store from your iPhone or iPad could be beneficial if your kids use your iPhone/iPad and you don’t want them to download and install app on your iOS device. Though everytime you try to install any app from the appstore you’re asked to enter your iTunes password but once you enter the password, it remains active for sometime.
If someone tries to install any other app before the password becomes inactive , then they won’t be asked to enter the password again and can easily download and install the app.
To avoid any such scenario, you can unhide appstore icon from your iPhone/iPad home screen by following below steps.
Step 1. Go to Settings > General
Step 2. Select Restrictions.
Incase setting is ON you just need to enter your restrictions passcode. If it’s OFF (default setting) then you would need to enable the restrictions first.
Tap ‘Enable Restrictions‘ and enter a new passcode. You will be asked to re-enter the restrictions passcode to confirm it.
Now under ‘Allow’ section you should the restriction status of certain apps and features which are ON by default. Setting of ON means that app or feature is allowed to run on your iPhone/iPhone/iPod.
Hide App Store on your iPhone/iPad/iPod : Tap ON in front of ‘Installing Apps’ and it will toggle to OFF. Now if you go to your iPhone/iPad home screen, you won’t see App Store icon. AppStore will be disabled and hence will not be visible on your home screen.
Incase you wish to install apps later, you would need to enable the setting again.
Unhide Apps Store on your iPhone/iPad/iPod: Whenever you want to enable or unhide App Store on your iOS device, firstly follow Step 1 and Step2.
In this case as restrictions are already ON , so you will be asked to enter restrictions passcode. Restrictions passcode is the same passcode which you would have entered while enabling the restrictions. Now tapping the OFF button in front of ‘Installing Apps’ will toggle it to ‘ON’.
Go to your home screen and you will notice that App Store is available and unhidden on iPhone/iPad/iPod. Now you will be able to search, download and install apps from App Store.
